(New York, NY) -- There's growing concern about the spread of polio in New York.

The state Department of Health announced on Friday that traces of the disease have now been found in wastewater samples in Sullivan County. That's in addition to a number of other counties where polio has cropped up over the summer.

Health officials are urging people to make sure they've been vaccinated against the disease that's considered serious and life-threatening.
