(Seattle, WA) -- It turns out Wednesday will not be the first day of school for Seattle Public Schools students.
Instead, the Seattle Education Association announced they will be on the picket lines. Ninety-five percent of the votes were in favor of authorizing a strike.
SEA members are demanding for better pay, manageable workloads and more support for students.
SPS issued a statement, saying the district has asked the union to consider a memorandum of understanding that would've guaranteed an on-time start to school, while allowing negotiations to continue, but that offer was declined.
