(Geneva, Switzerland) -- A top official at the World Health Organization is warning rich countries to take the ongoing COVID pandemic seriously.

Speaking to Reuters, WHO senior adviser Bruce Aylward said there will be "blood on [their] hands" if another wave comes at the end of the year. He added rich countries should help the rest of the world get to where they are in the pandemic.

His remarks come after President Biden recently declared the pandemic to be over. However, Biden later clarified that the COVID-19 situation is "not where it was."
