(Murrieta, CA) -- Digital natives are not immune to online hackers.

That's according to a new survey out by cybersecurity startup Social Catfish, as well as data from the FBI's Internet Crime Report. It found that individuals under the age of 20 lost over 100-million dollars to online scams last year.

That's an increase from just over eight-million dollars in 2017, making the change a staggering eleven-hundred-percent increase in just four years.

Part of the increase can be blamed on the pandemic where online scams surged for all age groups.

However, those over 60 are still losing the most money with nearly two-billion stolen in 2021.
