(Butler, KY) -- A northern Kentucky mayor's race is over after a coin flip.

Votes were tied last week in the race to become mayor of the small Pendleton County city of Butler.

Incumbent Greg McElfresh and Mason Taylor both got 55 votes with a third candidate getting 15. Kentucky law states tied elections must be decided by "lots," meaning the winner is chosen at random.

Taylor won thanks to the coin landing on tails and he will now represent over 600 people as their mayor.
