(Washington, DC) -- President Biden is selecting Jeff Zients as his new chief of staff.

It was first reported by The Washington Post and confirmed by two anonymous sources familiar with the decision.

This move comes as current chief of staff Ron Klain is expected to step down in the coming weeks. The veteran political consultant's resignation would be the biggest staffing shake-up the Biden administration has seen since taking over the White House two years ago.

A formal announcement and the naming of Klain's replacement is not expected until after President Biden's State of the Union address on February 7th.
