(Exton, PA) -- An auctionhouse in Pennsylvania sold a bat used by Babe Ruth for a record one-point-eight-five million dollars, setting a new record among baseball bat sales.

The sale is also unique in that it's the only known example to offer photo evidence.

The bat's value shot up after an analyst matched markings on the barrel to a photograph of Ruth swinging it at New York's famed Polo Grounds in 1921.

That was the year the Bambino hit 59 homers, a mark that stood untouched by any other player for 40 years.
