Biden cutting Asia trip short amid debt ceiling talks

(Washington, DC)  --  President Biden will cut his visit to Asia short as efforts to raise the nation's borrowing limit become more urgent.

Biden will travel to Hiroshima, Japan Wednesday to attend a G7 summit.

NBC News reports, however, he'll skip a planned visit to Papua, New Guinea and will return early to Washington to continue negotiations over raising the debt limit.

Democrats and Republicans are still at odds over an agreement as the U.S. could default on its debt as soon as June 1st.
