McCarthy snaps at reporter over impeachment comments

(Washington, DC)  --  House Speaker Kevin McCarthy says he's only considering an "impeachment inquiry" into President Biden at this time, not impeachment.

McCarthy made the distinction while talking to reporters today, saying the inquiry gives Congress more power to obtain the documents they need to investigate the president.

McCarthy earlier this week said Republican-led investigations into the Biden family's business dealings are rising to the level of an impeachment inquiry.

House Republicans leading the investigations accuse Biden of taking bribes from foreign entities through his son Hunter during his time as vice president.

IRS whistleblowers have also accused the DOJ of giving Hunter Biden preferential treatment in his criminal tax case.

The White House has denied the allegations.
