(Washington, DC) – The battle for the US House speakership continues.

Earlier this week, Rep. Kevin McCarthy was ousted from his position by a group of Democrats and Republicans. Led by Republican Matt Gaetz, a Congressman from Florida, eight Republicans were among the 216 House members to vote out, for the first time in history, the speaker of the US House.

Republican Representatives Steve Scalise, of Louisiana, and Jim Jordan, of Ohio, have both signaled their interest in becoming the next House speaker. Those in and out of political circles have also said former President Donald Trump may make a run at the office of speaker.

But, Trump is throwing his support behind Jordan.

“Congressman Jim Jordan has been a STAR long before making his very successful journey to Washington, D.C., representing Ohio’s 4th Congressional District. Respected by all, he is now Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. As President, I had the honor of presenting Jim with our Country’s highest civilian award, The Presidential Medal of Freedom,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “Jim, his wife, Polly, & family are outstanding - He will be a GREAT Speaker of the House, & has my Complete & Total Endorsement!”
