(Washington, D.C.) -- Minnesota Senator Tina Smith is hoping a new bipartisan caucus in the U.S. Senate can help increase support for mental health solutions nationwide.

Smith joined three other senators this week to form the Senate Mental Health Caucus. Smith says there is a stigma that surrounds the need for mental health care in the U.S., and she says her goal is to break down those fears and provide more help to those in need. She adds that the caucus will look for opportunities to expand services and access and get more mental health professionals into the workforce.

Democratic Senator Alex Padilla of California, Republican Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Republican Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa are also part of the caucus.
