(Atlanta, Georgia) — A former attorney for Donald Trump is pleading guilty for her role in trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia.
Sidney Powell accepted a plea deal on Thursday, one day before her trial was scheduled to begin. Prosecutors are recommending six years probation for Powell, who will be required to testify at other trials and write a letter of apology to Georgia citizens, pay $9,000 in restitution and fines, and potentially turn over documents.
Powell had been charged on seven counts, including conspiracy to defraud the state.
