White House: Israel to allow daily four-hour pauses in fighting for humanitarian purposes

(Washington, DC)  --  Israel will allow daily four-hour pauses in the fighting in Gaza against Hamas.

The White House says the pauses will allow people in northern Gaza to head south towards Egypt. Two humanitarian corridors will also be established in the Gaza Strip.  Biden told reporters while leaving the White House there's no chance of a full ceasefire in the fighting at this time.  However, Biden said he's optimistic in the effort to free the hostages held by Hamas.   

"Just a brief update on the crossing at Rafah: Over the last 24 hours, more than 80 more trucks carrying humanitarian aid was able to enter Gaza. That brings the total to 650. Again, not enough, "said John Kirby, NSC Coordinator for Strategic Communications, "We’re going to continue to work to push that.  And as of now, we’re aware of more than 400 Americans and families — family members who’ve been able to depart and — and sought the support of our embassy team on the ground and in Egypt."
