Israel-Hamas truce in final day

(Tel Aviv)  --  The temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas could be extended.

In a statement, Egypt said Israel and Hamas are close to an agreement for the truce to be extended two days.

NBC News reports a senior Arab official confirmed there will be an extension, but details are still being finalized.

The original four-day agreement is set to expire at midnight Eastern, which is 7 a.m. Tuesday local time.

Hamas has released 58 hostages as part of the deal while Israel has freed 117 Palestinian prisoners in exchange.

The truce agreement allowed for it to be extended by one additional day for every ten hostages freed by Hamas.
