(Undated) -- 2024 is a leap year, giving us an extra day on the calendar.
The day gets tacked on to the end of February every four years, with some exceptions, to keep our dates in sync with the seasons.
While there are 365 days in a year, it actually takes about 365 and a quarter days for the Earth to travel around the sun.
February 29th takes that extra time into account.
