Senate may not pass Bipartisan border security and foreign aid package

(Washington, DC)  —  Senate Republicans are expected to tank a $118 billion border security and foreign aid package.

The Senate will hold a procedural vote on the legislation today, which is expected to be blocked by lawmakers who say it doesn’t go far enough in stopping the flow of illegal immigration.  If the vote fails, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer plans to to drop the border provisions and force a vote only on the aid for Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan.  The border deal negotiated by a bipartisan group of senators and the White House collapsed just days after its release.

Republicans and former President Trump have criticized the deal arguing it would do nothing to secure the border.
