(Washington, D.C.) — Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas acknowledges the U.S. immigration system is broken and says its up to Congress to pass legislation to get it fixed.
Speaking on NBC’s Meet the Press, Mayorkas claimed Republicans didn’t even read what was in a bi-partisan Senate border bill before striking it down. House Republicans are accusing Mayorkas of breaking the law in his handling of the southern border.
Another impeachment vote is expected this week after last week’s vote failed in the House. Mayorkas calls Republicans’ allegations “baseless.”
