(Washington, DC)  --  An active-duty United States Air Force service member is dead after he set himself on fire outside of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC on Sunday.

Video from the scene shows the man, identified as Aaron Bushnell of San Antonio, saying he will "no longer be complicit in genocide," and is resorting to "an extreme act of protest," which he said is still nothing compared to what Palestinians have been enduring. Bushnell was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and later died.

More than 30,000 people have died in the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the group that leads the Gaza Strip. An estimated 29,000 of the dead and 69,000 of the injured are Palestinian according to the Gazan Health Ministry, a Hamas-led organization.
