ND politicians react to Biden’s decision to not seek reelection

(NORTH DAKOTA) — North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, North Dakota’s Congressional delegation, and the Republican nominee for the United States House, are reacting to President Joe Biden’s decision to not seek reelection.

“With a little over 100 days until the election, the democrats just forced out their incumbent nominee who received over 14 million votes in the primary. This is just wild,” Congressman Kelly Armstrong, who is the Republican candidate for North Dakota Governor, said. “We cannot let the chaos on the other side distract us from what we need to do. Vice President Harris owns all of the failed policies of President Biden and it is essential that we defeat her in November. It’s time to double our efforts to elect Donald Trump, flip the senate and expand our house majority.”

In a statement on X, formerly Twitter, Governor Doug Burgum said, “President Trump’s strength, dominant debate performance, and the party’s unity at last week’s convention has led to Biden admitting an early defeat. Our nation is ready for a return to President Trump’s common sense leadership which will restore the American dream for everyone!”

In a statement, Senator Kevin Cramer said, “If he’s ending his campaign because he’s incapable of doing the job, then he should resign as POTUS. If he’s ending his campaign because he cannot convince enough people he should be re-elected, he deserves credit for having a lucid moment. He and every liberal apologist has been caught in their fraud, and his presidency will be forever remembered as a miserable failure.”

Senator John Hoeven said, “Regardless of who replaces President Biden in the race, we are confident in the Trump-Vance ticket. We will continue working to bring President Trump back to the White House so we can get our nation back on the right track.”

Julie Fedorchak, who is running for the state’s lone seat in the United States House of Representatives, issued a statement late Sunday afternoon, saying, “Democrats can change the candidate at the top of their ticket, but that doesn’t change their terrible policies that have failed America. Their policies have created crushing inflation, regulations that are strangling businesses, borders in chaos, and Americans feeling unsafe in their own communities.”

She continued, “And now Democrats are adding to the chaos by circumventing voters and controlling their political power. This is not the haphazard leadership America needs right now. And, if Joe Biden is unfit to seek reelection, he is unable to effectively lead our country and should resign the presidency.”

Biden made the announcement on Sunday on X, and subsequently endorsed current Vice President Kamala Harris to be the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.
