ND Lawmakers Kill Bill To Allow Unlicensed Cosmetology Work

(Bismarck, ND) -- The North Dakota State Senate has killed a bill that would have allowed people who do not have a cosmetology license to do freelance work.  Current law mandates 18-hundred hours of training at cosmetology school.  The proposed bill would have done away with the requirement, replacing it with one that only requires a four-hour course to let someone become a niche beauty services provider.  Licensed cosmetologists say training is critical for client safety.
