State Lawmakers Scramble After Governor Burgum OKs Ten Commandments Legislation

(Bismarck, ND)  --  North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum is saying he'll put his signature on legislation designed to protect schools and teachers from lawsuits that may arise following the posting of the Ten Commandments in classrooms.  The move reportedly comes amid advice from attorneys and other state officials that the measure is almost certainly unconstitutional.  With that in mind, state House members reportedly watered down the bill by including a requirement that any depiction of the Ten Commandments be accompanied by other historical documents.
