Brooklyn Center Passes Police Reform Initiatives

(Brooklyn Center, MN)  --  Changes are coming to how certain noncriminal calls are dealt with in Brooklyn Center after City Council passed a police reform resolution over the weekend. The initiative was named after Daunte Wright and Kobe Dimock-Heisler, who Mayor Mike Elliot says were robbed of their futures as they were both shot and killed by Brooklyn Center police. The resolution establishes an unarmed department full of social workers and medical teams that will respond to traffic stops, low-level violations and calls involving someone experiencing a mental health crisis.
