(Minot Air Force Base, ND) -- Minot Air Force Bases Staff Sergeant Alex Sandmann is the 2021 Global Strike Command Airman of the Year.
Sandmann says he was pleasantly surprised to receive the honor. He works in weapon security and is attending college online for a criminal justice degree.
Sandmann now moves on to be considered for airman of the year for the Air Force, which is announced by the end of July.
