Pendleton Takes Stand In Murder Trial

(Grand Forks, ND)  --  The man accused of killing his mother and a Grand Forks police officer is speaking for himself at his trial.  Salamah Pendleton took the stand yesterday on the final day of testimony, saying he feared for his life during a shootout with law enforcement who came to his apartment to serve eviction papers.  Pendleton says he thought officers were breaking into his home, and that they fired the first shots.  He is facing two counts of murder for the deaths of his mother and Grand Forks Police Officer Cody Holte, three counts of attempted murder, and several other charges.
