Bismarck Board Of Health Denies School Mask Mandate Request

(Bismarck, ND) -- The Bismarck Board Of Health is denying a request from a group of parents to mandate masks in schools.

BOH officials say the board doesn't have the legal authority to enact such a mandate. The board is made up of members of the city commission, who say the school's board has the authority to enforce a mandate.

The health board voted unanimously Wednesday to deny the request of BPS Parent and Community Coalition for COVID-19 Safety in School to require masks in the city's public schools.

Sixty members of the 250-member coalition had signed a letter to the board making the request.
