Walz Announces Funds For COVID Prevention at Shelters

(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota will use 15-million dollars in federal funds to improve COVID-19 prevention efforts at emergency shelters.

On Wednesday, Governor Tim Walz announced that money from the American Rescue Plan will support Emergency Services Program grants. Those are awarded to organizations that provide shelter and essential services to people experiencing homelessness.

Improvements to be made with the money will include air filtration systems, modifications for social distancing and traffic flow, and creating better equipped spaces to handle COVID.
