(Pierre, SD) -- A panel of South Dakota lawmakers agrees that the state should legalize, regulate, and tax recreational marijuana.

The Marijuana Interim Study Committee completed its study and is sending a formal recommendation to the full Legislature to end South Dakota's ban on the use, cultivation, and sale of marijuana.

The panel also recommends a 15-percent tax on the sale of cannabis products in the state.

It is not clear yet if the topic of legalized recreational marijuana will be brought up at all during North Dakota's special legislative session on November 8th.
