(Sioux Falls, SD) -- The South Dakota Retailers Association is offering cash incentives to new, out-of-state hires.

The S-D-R-A is attempting to entice people from other states to work in the retail industry.  Out-of-state employees who work at least 30 hours a week will receive 500 dollars after 90 days, and another 500 dollars after 180 days.  Executive Director Nathan Sanderson says they're offering the bonuses to entice the folks who are already moving to the state.

Sanderson says the measures have been needed for a while, as South Dakota has seen workforce shortages years before the pandemic made them commonplace across the country.
