(Minneapolis, MN) -- More than 80 workers who clear snow from Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport runways are authorizing a strike.

Negotiations between the Metropolitan Airports Commission and Teamsters Local 320 union members have been going on for the last two to three months. The workers are also responsible for maintaining airport runways and repairing security fences.

Union members are demanding higher wages and equal severance with other MAC employee union groups. If the strike moves forward, its unclear who would step in to perform the workers' duties.

The airport does say a possible strike wouldn't begin until late January.
