Ashby, MN – The MN State Patrol was busy with crashes on Christmas Day. There was a massive pile-up on I-94 Eastbound nearby Ashby, involving up to 80 vehicles just after 11am, and that forced Troopers to shut down the interstate for about three-and-a-half hours. Troopers say there were 35-40 vehicles that were damaged and another 30-40 vehicles that slid off the road, including numerous semi’s. MN State Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow Tweeted that there were no fatalities or life-threatening injuries.
It was snowing and roads were slippery when the chain reaction crashes occurred.
The State Patrol was assisted by the Grant County Sheriff's Office, the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office, Ashby Fire, Dalton Fire, Ringdahl Ambulance, Ashby Ambulance and several other first responders.
The crash remains under investigation.
