(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is the top contender for the Minnesota Gubernatorial race happening later this year.

The poll cites a 45% favorable opinion of Walz, seven points over a 37% unfavorable opinion. It also cites an overwhelming popularity with liberal and very liberal populations, with 83% of liberal and 87% of very liberal individuals saying they have a favorable opinion of Walz.

However, the poll does cite some good news for the Republican challengers. The lead Walz has now is thinner than what it was in December of 2021. The closest gap currently exists between former Senator Scott Jensen and Governor Walz. The Governor currently holds a 3 point lead over his challenger, or 43 percent to 40 percent in favor of Walz. In December, Governor Walz held a 12 point lead over Jensen.
