Minnesota Senate Republicans introduce school parent rights bill

(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota Senate Republicans are introducing a series of measures meant to protect the rights of parents in relation to school curriculum.  

The measures were introduced Monday and would require teachers to share their curriculum with parents. Parents would also be allowed to seek alternative instruction or to leave the school altogether if they aren't pleased with what's presented.  

Senator Justin Eichorn says the package is meant to "empower parents in their children's education." Republicans are also planning to reintroduce a bill to create education savings accounts available for use to cover the costs of private school tuition.
