(St. Paul, MN) -- The University of Minnesota is requesting 100-million dollars in funding from lawmakers for campus safety efforts.

Senior Vice President for Finance and Operations Myron Frans presented the request Tuesday to the Senate Higher Education Committee for 90 million in one-time funding and ten million is recurring funds. The university wants the funding to put toward expanding the campus police force in the Twin Cities, and making technological improvements to all five campuses across the state.

The request was advanced to the Senate Finance Committee before possibly going to the floor for a vote.
