Cass County Sheriff: Arthur burglary halted after homeowners report theft in progress

(Arthur, ND) -- A homeowner confronted "responsible parties" during an ongoing burglary in their residence.

Cass County Deputies responded to a burglary in progress around 4:45pm in Arthur, North Dakota. A statement, released by Cass County Sheriff Jessie Jahner, says the homeowner confronted the people in his home, causing them to flee. 

Deputies later located a vehicle that matched the homeowner's description. Cass County Sheriff Jessie Jahner says the vehicle was occupied by 37-year-old Laura Gaarsland, an unidentified male, and an eight-year-old child. Gaarsland was arrested due to active warrants and driving under suspension. During the investigation, officials found property stolen from the Arthur home.

The investigation is still ongoing.
