(Roseville, MN) -- A Roseville police officer is in stable condition after being shot in the face during an exchange of gunfire with a suspect.

Roseville Police Chief Erica Schneider announced Wednesday that the three-year veteran of the force was dragged to safety by fellow officers Tuesday night during a shootout in the 29-hundred block of West Owasso Boulevard that lasted over an hour. The suspect died later at the hospital from a gunshot wound.

Police are still investigating to determine a motive for the shootout and whether an officer shot the suspect or if his wound was self-inflicted.
