(Crookston, MN) -- A brief tornado touched down Saturday evening just southeast of Crookston.

Greg Gust, Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Grand Forks, says the tornado touched down at 6:55 p.m. approximately seven miles southeast of Crookston, just south of Highway 102.

"it appeared that it would have been for less than a minute and less than a 1/2 mile track," Gust said. The area was not under a tornado warning at the time, but Gust says the weather service had just issued a special weather statement for strong thunderstorms in the area.

No damage has been reported as a result of the tornado.
