(St. Paul, MN) -- New Minnesota U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger is adopting an aggressive strategy towards violent crime in the Twin Cities.

Luger pledged Tuesday to use the "entire weight" of his office to punish violent criminals, saying it's necessary to cut down on a surge in the area's carjackings, shootings, and gang activity.

Luger stood with law enforcement leaders and said he's issued instructions to all prosecutors in the criminal division in his office to work on violent crime cases.
