(Bismarck, ND) -- Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway's rail car backlog is causing shipping backups and supply chain issues.
The backlog sits at over 27-hundred cars past due. Senator John Hoeven says he's continuing to press the issue with BNSF and the Surface Transportation Board.
Hoeven says the ongoing transportation disruptions are creating issues for both producers and consumers.
The STB is requiring Class One railroads to provide biweekly reports on how they're doing on increasing service.
