Two day standoff near Twin Cities ends with suspect shot

(St. Michael, MN) -- A two-day armed standoff at a home in the northwest portion of the greater Twin Cities area is now over.

The Wright County Sheriff's Office is now giving more details about the incident, saying the standoff in St. Micheal began just after midnight Tuesday morning.

The situation began with a call to law enforcement of a man carrying a rifle arguing with a woman. The department is identifying the suspect as Brandon Gardas, reporting he has multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest. The Sheriff's Office says Gardas fired several shots at law enforcement officers during the standoff. There was an armed confrontation when officers entered the home just before 9 p.m. Wednesday night, where Gardas was shot. He was then airlifted to a nearby hospital.

There were no injuries to any responding officers and there has been no update on Gardas' condition.
