(St. Paul, MN) -- Governor Tim Walz is issuing an executive order to protect those who visit Minnesota to receive an abortion.

The Democrat said his office will help those who travel to the state for reproductive healthcare "to the fullest extent of their lawful authority." He went on to say he made the decision because he expects Minnesota's neighboring states "to severely restrict reproductive freedom."

The move came after the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade that had granted federal abortion rights for nearly five decades.
