(Bismarck, ND) -- North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley says the email account of his predecessor Wayne Stenehjem was deleted shortly after the late Attorney General's death.

Wrigley says former Chief Deputy Attorney General Troy Seibel's email account was also deleted in May. Seibel resigned in March when Wrigley chose to appoint his own deputy.

An open records request by the Bismarck Tribune uncovered the deletion of the accounts. Seibel told the Tribune Friday that he doesn't remember any conversation about Stenehjem's email account. He also said his email account was deleted after he resigned, so he had no control over it.

Wrigley is filling the remaining months of Stenehjem's term.
