(Bismarck, ND) -- A new rule will soon require clerks and court officials to provide electronic copies of records to authorized requestors.

The North Dakota Supreme Court adopted the rule Tuesday with a vote of four to one. Some clerks and officials previously provided electronic copies, but were not required to do so.

The rule goes into effect November 1st.
