North Dakota ranks in top ten for states with highest student loan debt

(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota ranks near the top of the list when it comes to states in which college students owe the most money.

Personal Finance website WalletHub has released it's 2022 most student debt-ridden states, and North Dakota comes in at number ten.

The study was based across 11 key metrics, including average student debt to unemployment rate in the 25 to 34 age group to share of students with past-due loan balances.

Other key indicators where North Dakota placed include:

  • 14th – Avg. Student Debt
  • 3rd – Proportion of Students with Debt
  • 21st – Student Debt as % of Income (Adjusted for Cost of Living)
  • 15th – Availability of Student Jobs

Minnesota ranked 15th on the list, while South Dakota came in at the third highest.
