(Fargo, ND) -- A local heath expert says Covid-19 transmission in the area is high, but the severity of most cases they are seeing is staying "manageable."

Dr. Avish Nagpal is an Infectious Disease Expert Sanford Health. Dr. Napgal joined WDAY Midday to share an update on the current status of Covid-19 and its prevalence in Cass County, saying the majority of cases they are seeing happen to have Covid, but are being admitted to the hospital for other reasons.

"We are seeing a lot of transmission in the community, but thankfully most of the infections are mild," said Dr. Nagpal," We don't have too many severe cases ending up in the hospital...and because of the availability of antiviral treatments like Paxlovid and Monoclonal antibodies, we are able to keep high-risk people out of the hospital."

Dr. Nagpal says admission rates are "significantly down" compared to both 2020 and 2021. You can learn more about Covid-19 cases, their level of transmission, and more by clicking here
