(Bismarck, ND) -- North Dakota's senators say they are hoping the country can avoid a costly railway worker strike.

Railway workers are set to go on strike later this week. Senator Kevin Cramer says Republicans are offering a bill that would codify a deal between the railroads and employees.

Ten rail unions have agreed to a deal, but two say the railroads are refusing to negotiate, calling their behavior "corporate terrorism."

Cramer says if an agreement is codified, the country "could avoid a major, major blow."
