(Standing Rock, ND) --  A White Shield woman says she was the victim of racial profiling and dehumanizing treatment while at the Standing Rock Detention Center.

The American Civil Liberties Union of North Dakota has filed a suit against the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs on behalf of Lissa Yellow Bird-Chase asking for more than two-million dollars in damages.  Yellow Bird-Chase say she and her another woman were taken to the detention center after drugs were found on her passenger.  The complaint alleges authorities strip searched her in front of six officers there and that she was subjected to a body cavity search by a male officer.  She also alleges she was deprived of food and prescription medication and that BIA officials kept 850-dollars and about half the medication she came in with.

Yellow Bird-Chase is a member of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation.
