(Bismarck, ND) -- A bill introduced to the State Legislature Wednesday is aimed at opening more doors for women in the statehouse.

House Bill 1311 would require the House Majority Leader to appoint two women to chair committees.

Currently, of the 26 women in the state House of Representatives, not one chairs a committee nor do any of them sit on the board that oversees the Legislature.

There are currently three female chairs of various Senate committees in the state, but the House has yet to catch up.
