(Bismarck, ND) -- The North Dakota Department of Transportation is celebrating 100 years of the state road map.

While widely considered a thing of the past, the state is modernizing their maps. Interactive QR codes have been added to road maps sold at various locations across the state in an effort to help motorists find "hidden gems".

In 100 years, North Dakota has added nearly 63-hundred road miles to their state map that now totals upwards of 86-hundred.
