(Chanhassen, MN) -- One benefit of the heavy snow this winter is some improvement in Minnesota drought conditions.

Minnesota's had one of the wettest starts to the year in a hundred years.

At the start of the winter, 48-percent of the state was in drought, with extreme drought in parts of Western and Southern Minnesota. Even before the snow fell this past week, the drought conditions decreased to 30-percent.

That should drop even more with the next U.S. Drought Monitor due out this Thursday.
