Attorney on North Dakota Supreme Court decision: "women don't forfeit their constitutional rights just because they've become pregnant"

(Fargo, ND) -- An attorney for the Center For Reproductive Rights is responding to a legal victory at the North Dakota Supreme Court.

"What's really critical and what we are really pleased to have seen is that the court recognized these fundamental constitutional rights are meant to apply to all individuals and that women don't forfeit their constitutional rights just because they've become pregnant," said Autumn Katz, Interim Director of U.S. Litigation for the organization.

Katz commented after the court announced a decision Thursday that the state's trigger ban on abortion should remain blocked, because the supreme court asserted the ban is "likely unconstitutional". The decision means that abortion will remain legal in the state while the case pertaining to the trigger ban proceeds in a lower court.
